Errazuriz Pinot Noir 2008 Casablanca Valley

January 07 2010
My mother-in-law stayed for a few nights over the Christmas period and brought a half case of wine from Majestic to contribute to the festivities.

It was Errazuriz Pinot Noir from Chile which I had never tried before. Majestic are currently asking for as little as £6.39 a bottle.

I bought one bottle to add to the Christmas Day meal and more were opened on Boxing Day and New Years Eve. Lots of different people ended up trying the wine and without exception it went down extremely well. At the price point this wine excites me, and I can see it being a regular in my wine collection.

This is what Errazuriz say about their wines -

'An emphasis is placed on the delicate handling of the wines, with the aim of producing wines with elegance and complexity'

I have to agree with this statement after drinking a fair amount of it. 13.5% of 100% Pinot Noir at a great price.

I even like the packaging, the curvaceous Burgundy style bottle with a modest white label and red screw top. No gimmicks, just a simple vessel containing very nice wine.

Selling wines like this, I can see why Majestic have been so successful recently.
