Chateau Trocard 2003 Bordeaux Superieur

August 22 2009
As promised I am reporting back after finally cracking open this bottle, which I described in detail here.

I cooked up some sirloin steak last night with some home made pommes frites. It seemed a perfect opportunity to drink a claret.

The metal foil cap cut off satisfyingly crisply, and I subconsciously weighed it in my hand. The fact that gravity noticed it was there, and produced a slight pull to earth of this normally cast aside inconsequential wrapping, made me feel good about the wine already.

Now to the cork.

It was long, elegant, and made of one piece of cork branded with the insignia of the producer. It was bearing the expected red staining at the bottom, and the wine and cork seemed to have lived in happy symbiosis, perfect partners. After my recent plastic cork experience this was so pleasant.

The wine itself was in a nutshell wonderfully balanced, like the image of Phillipe Petit walking between the Twin Towers, it just made me happy and hit all the right spots.
