Blason De Bourgogne Hautes-Cotes De Beaune 2008

November 17 2009
This wine is only mentioned here as I think it is one to avoid.
At £9.99 from Sainsbury's it is far from cheap.

Trying to dress to impress with a slightly OTT Blason livery, there is bit too much bling with 'self awarded' medals plastered on the front courtesy of the management/marketing company HwCg

According to HwCg -

"The brand has now entered AC Nielsen's top 10 French wine brands and sells 200,000 9 litre cases a year"

so it seems to be making quite a dent in the market.

I was recently poured a glass of this stuff along with some friends whilst on holiday in Cornwall. Without exception everyone pulled a pained face on first sip. It was so sharp, thin and unpalatable. The whole lot was poured down the sink.

There was no cork taint, or other damage to explain the group reaction. It was just not good wine. It brings tears to my eyes even thinking about it, like sucking on a lemon.

Opened a bottle today. It was the colour and tint of watery ribena and tasted almost of nothing. No taint as you say but just not burgundy, in fact not even wine! They should not get away with this one.
