Tesco Finest Chateau Palatio Muscadet Sur Lie 2010

January 6 2012
Here is a really good white wine at just £6.99. I have become a mini-serial buyer of this one, which is most unlike me.

'Muscadet' means 100% Melon de Bourgogne, historically a fairly drab grape with little excitement on its own. This spurred producers to try and add complexity in other ways like letting the juice rest on 'lees' (used yeast cells and general detritus), which frankly sounds disgusting, but imparts a richness and depth which I love. I have been supping this modest 12%ABV wine with almost anything (mostly over expensive crisps in very large packs) when I wind down after work.

If you are going to go out and buy it please leave some for me...
